The Los Angeles Chargers are activating running back J.K. Dobbins from injured reserve ahead of Saturday's game against the New England Patriots, the team announced Friday.

Dobbins has missed the Chargers' past four games due to an MCL sprain he sustained against the Baltimore Ravens on Nov. 25. The dynamic tailback was listed as questionable on the team's final injury report Thursday.

Dobbins leads the Chargers with 900 scrimmage yards while also recording 766 rushing yards and seven scores.

Dobbins' return arrives at an opportune time - fellow halfback Gus Edwards will be sidelined after hurting his ankle during last week's win against the Denver Broncos. It's unclear if Edwards reaggravated the same ankle injury that caused him to miss four games earlier this season.

Kimani Vidal and Hassan Haskins are the options behind Dobbins on L.A.'s depth chart.
