Saints' Olave placed on IR, could miss rest of season
The New Orleans Saints placed wide receiver Chris Olave on injured reserve Saturday after suffering his second concussion of the season last week, the team announced.
The Ohio State product will miss at least four games, and there's a chance Olave won't play again in 2024, sources told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. He was ruled out of Sunday's game against the Falcons on Friday.
Interim head coach Darren Rizzi said Wednesday that Olave was scheduled to see specialists regarding his concussion history. The wideout was carted off the field against the Carolina Panthers in Week 9 after taking a hit from Carolina Panthers safety Xavier Woods.
Olave also missed the club's Week 7 contest against Denver Broncos due to a concussion.
"We're more worried about Chris Olave the person and making sure that everything's good," Rizzi said, according to Katherine Terrell of ESPN. "Then once he goes through that process, we'll bring it back to football to see how that fits in."
The 24-year-old Olave has 32 receptions for 400 yards and one touchdown this season.
