Bengals' Taylor-Britt unimpressed by Daniels, Commanders' 'college offense'
Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt isn't impressed by what he's seeing this season from the Washington Commanders' offense and rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels.
"They don't make him do a lot," Taylor-Britt said ahead of Cincy's Monday Night Football matchup versus Washington in Week 3, according to Ben Baby of ESPN. "They keep it really simple for him. Nice college offense. (Kliff) Kingsbury's the OC."
The 2024 No. 2 pick, Daniels has been this season's most successful rookie quarterback, though he has yet to throw for a touchdown. The 2023 Heisman Trophy winner completed 75.5% of his passes in his first two NFL games while posting a 97.2 passer rating. He also rushed for 132 yards and two TDs on 26 attempts.
"I heard his pass percentage is very high, but he's only thrown it short routes, some intermediate stuff, quick throws," Taylor-Britt added about Daniels.
Daniels' average depth of target of 5.2 yards currently ranks 32nd in 2024 among eligible passers, according to PFF.
This is the second straight week in which Taylor-Britt sounds unimpressed by a star player on an opposing team. Last week, the 24-year-old corner said that Kansas City Chiefs receiver Xavier Worthy couldn't do much other than "run straight" due to his speed. Worthy had only two catches for 17 yards versus the Bengals, but the Chiefs won the matchup 26-25.
Taylor-Britt - who made a spectacular one-handed interception off Patrick Mahomes - has amassed nine tackles and two pass breakups this year.
