49ers' Bosa: We're playing 'a better team' in Week 2
San Francisco 49ers pass-rusher Nick Bosa appeared to throw a subtle jab at the New York Jets ahead of his team's Week 2 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.
"This week I think we're playing a better ... honestly, a better team," Bosa said Wednesday, per KNBR. "They're playing better football, it looks like. They run the ball well and we're going to have to be better in our techniques. We kind of got away with some things last week so we have to hone in and not pat ourselves on the back."
The Niners handled the Jets in their season opener on Monday, besting future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers and a talented roster by a final score of 32-19. San Francisco leaned on its rushing attack, even though All-Pro tailback Christian McCaffrey was sidelined with a calf/Achilles injury.
Jordan Mason received the majority of carries on Monday, recording a career-high 147 yards on 28 carries for one touchdown.
The Niners were also able to keep the Jets' rushing attack in check. Dynamic halfback Breece Hall found the end zone, but New York was held to 68 rushing yards, the second fewest among any team in Week 1.
Bosa, a four-time Pro Bowler, recorded two tackles and two QB hits.
The Vikings' offense is led by former Niners quarterback Sam Darnold. The USC product completed 19 of his 24 passes for 208 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception in a 28-6 rout over the New York Giants. Running back Aaron Jones sparked Minnesota's ground game with an average of 6.7 yards per carry and added a score in his debut in a purple uniform.
San Francisco (1-0) will travel to U.S. Bank Stadium for its first road test against the Vikings on Sunday.
