Bengals' Taylor-Britt unimpressed by Chiefs' Worthy: 'He can run straight'
Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt doesn't think his team's secondary will have many issues covering Kansas City Chiefs rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy on Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium.
Worthy - who broke the 40-yard dash NFL combine record by clocking in with a 4.21 time - scored two long touchdowns last week to help the Chiefs beat the Baltimore Ravens. However, Taylor-Britt isn't impressed.
"(He has) speed. That's about it," Taylor-Britt said, according to Caleb Noe of WCPO 9. "He can run straight. Run jet sweeps and just run straight. He can't do too much else, though, so that's about it."
Worthy - the 28th overall pick this year - posted a 21-yard touchdown run and a 35-yard TD catch in Week 1, providing the Chiefs' offense with a spark at wide receiver that was missing in 2023.
The former Texas stud was considered undersized with a slim build coming out of the 2024 NFL Draft. Kansas City lists him at 165 pounds.
"I feel like if you put your hands on him, he's only a hundred-and-some pounds. You put your hands on him, you stop his speed," Taylor-Britt added.
The Bengals and Chiefs have developed a big rivalry in recent years, with the two teams meeting in the AFC title game in 2022 and 2023. Cincy and Kansas City have faced each other five times since January 2022, including the playoffs. Joe Burrow and Co. won the first three bouts, but Patrick Mahomes has helped K.C. win the next two.
The Bengals suffered a stunning 16-10 home loss to the New England Patriots in Week 1. Taylor-Britt finished the contest with seven tackles. He was targeted four times and allowed three catches for 25 yards, according to Football Reference.
