The San Francisco 49ers are signing veteran wide receiver Robbie Chosen, his agents confirmed to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
The addition of Chosen comes in the midst of star receiver Brandon Aiyuk's unresolved trade saga with the 49ers.
Chosen worked out for the 49ers earlier this week prior to signing.
Aiyuk has been linked to trade rumors all offseason, but speculation surrounding his future ramped up in recent weeks. The star receiver is seeking a contract extension and hasn't been able to reach an agreement with San Francisco. Any trade is expected to come with a long-term deal from his new team as well.
He's been linked to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns, New England Patriots, and Washington Commanders, though the latter two teams have reportedly dropped out of the running. The 49ers and Steelers have apparently been negotiating, but the NFC club wants a wide receiver back in the deal.
In addition to the uncertainty surrounding Aiyuk's future with the franchise, first-round wide receiver Ricky Pearsall is nursing a shoulder injury.
Chosen caught four passes for 126 yards and one touchdown last season with the Miami Dolphins. He's recorded one career 1,000-plus-yard campaign in 2020 as a member of the Carolina Panthers.
