Chubb had successful MCL surgery, needs ACL repair

Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb will undergo a second surgery to repair his ACL after having successful surgery to repair his MCL, meniscus, and medial capsule, the team announced Saturday.

The team was reportedly optimistic that the ACL was intact before Chubb went under the knife, but the ligament will ultimately need to be repaired.

Cleveland expects Chubb to return "at some point in the 2024 season" after original reports expected the tailback to return in six-to-eight months.

Chubb suffered the injury on a hit by Pittsburgh Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick in Week 2. He collected 170 rushing yards and 21 receiving yards in his 2023 campaign before exiting in the eventual loss.

Jerome Ford has led the Browns' backfield since Chubb went down. He scored two receiving touchdowns and tallied 51 scrimmage yards in the team's Week 3 win over the Tennessee Titans. Kareem Hunt, who recently reunited with the club, added another 35 scrimmage yards in that game.
