Dolphins' McDaniel not thinking revenge ahead of Week 4 vs. Bills
Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said Wednesday that his team isn't thinking about getting payback on the Buffalo Bills after their playoff matchup last season. He added that Miami doesn't need extra motivation ahead of the highly anticipated AFC East showdown in Week 4.
"If you need to be motivated for a game like this, check your pulse," McDaniel said, according to ESPN's Marcel Louis-Jacques. "Or maybe consider a career adjustment."
He added: "I think it's a very, very difficult challenge that I think our players are pumped for because you sign up to play the best, and I think (the Bills) fit that."
Following a historic 70-20 victory over the Denver Broncos in Week 3, the 3-0 Dolphins lead the NFL in most offensive categories, including total points and yards. Meanwhile, the Bills' offense ranks second in scoring. Buffalo also boasts the league's No. 2 defense after allowing only 11.7 points per game through the first three weeks of the season.
Sean McDermott's outfit is coming off a 37-3 win in which the team forced five turnovers and amassed nine sacks against the Washington Commanders.
"They're very well-orchestrated with their assignments and knowing each other's assignments," McDaniel said of the 2-1 Bills. "They play great team ball and they really strain each and every play. Part of that straining doesn't show up in the box score, but a couple of those turnovers were a result of quarterback pressure and a guy having to let it go before he wanted to, before he saw things.
"That's what they rely on and they're very good at it. And that's a great way to win a lot of football games, which they've done doing that."
Buffalo took down Miami in the wild-card game in January. Miami, however, played that 34-31 loss with quarterback Skylar Thompson replacing Tua Tagovailoa, who was in concussion protocol at the time. During the 2022 regular season, the Tagovailoa-led Dolphins split their series with the Bills.
