Rodgers enjoying time with Jets: 'The most fun I've had in a while'
It's safe to say Aaron Rodgers is enjoying his time as a member of the New York Jets.
"It was a lot of fun, actually," Rodgers said Friday when asked about the team's activities so far this offseason. "The last six weeks have been about the most fun I've had in a while. It's fun to come to work and be excited about what we're doing.
"We got a great quarterback room. To be able to work with (passing game coordinator) Todd Downing and (quarterbacks coach) Rob Calabrese, and (offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett) ... To work with Zach (Wilson) and Tim (Boyle), and Chris (Streveler), it's been a lot of fun."
Rodgers - who attended all of the Jets' organized team activities - particularly praised Wilson.
"He's been incredible. He hasn't made my life hell every day," Rodgers jokingly said, according to ESPN's Field Yates.
New York head coach Robert Saleh announced on Tuesday that the team won't hold mandatory minicamp next week, giving his players an extra week off due to the Hall of Fame Game. The Jets will open this year's preseason against the Cleveland Browns on Aug. 3.
"The thing I like and that I'm encouraging is more communication across the ball. We get, at some point, possibly the best corner and best receiver in the NFL. That's a legit possibility, I think, for those two guys," Rodgers said in reference to Sauce Gardner and Garrett Wilson.
The four-time NFL MVP has also been planning on flying his receivers out to the West Coast during their week off, according to Paul Andrew Esden Jr. of The Score 1260.
Rodgers, 39, joined the Jets via trade in April after spending almost two decades with the Green Bay Packers. He didn't attend Green Bay's voluntary offseason work in his final years with the team.
Rodgers - the Packers' all-time touchdown leader - and Green Bay general manager Brian Gutekunst both said there were communication issues between the two sides this offseason before the future Hall of Fame quarterback was traded.
Rodgers passed for 3,695 yards and 26 touchdowns last year, as the Packers missed the playoffs for the first time since 2018.
