The Houston Texans bolstered their secondary Saturday, signing veteran cornerback Shaquill Griffin to a one-year deal worth up to $4.5 million, a source told Jordan Schultz, theScore's NFL insider.

Griffin spent the last two seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars, who released him in March to clear $13.1 million in cap space. The UCF product appeared in just five games in 2022 due to a back injury. He racked up 49 tackles and seven pass breakups in 14 games during his first season in Jacksonville after joining the team on a three-year, $44.5-million contract in 2021.

The Texans will be the third different team in Griffin's career. The 2017 third-round pick began his NFL journey with the Seattle Seahawks, earning a Pro Bowl berth in 2019.

Griffin will join a talented secondary in Houston that features cornerbacks Derek Stingley Jr., Steven Nelson, and Desmond King, among others.
