Jameis Winston will return to the New Orleans Saints for the 2023 campaign after the two sides agreed to a reworked 1-year deal worth up to $8 million, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Winston is expected to back up new signal caller Derek Carr.
Winston was reportedly offered a deal earlier this week to remain with the team or he would be cut. The 29-year-old was slated to carry a $15.6-million cap hit while making $12.8 million before the new agreement, according to OverTheCap.
The 6-foot-4 passer threw for 858 yards, four touchdowns, and five interceptions in three games for the Saints in 2022. He opened the season as the team's starter, but was injured early in the year and never got the job back from veteran Andy Dalton.
