The Miami Dolphins will release cornerback Byron Jones on March 15, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The Dolphins will designate Jones as a post-June 1 release, Schefter adds. The transaction will save them $13.6 million in cap space.
Jones missed the entire 2022 season recovering from a torn Achilles. He had surgery on the injury last March and spent all of last year on the physically unable to perform list.
The 30-year-old cornerback said in February that he "can't run or jump" due to injuries he sustained while playing in the NFL. However, he reportedly isn't retiring.
Miami signed Jones to a five-year, $82.5-million contract during the 2020 offseason. He grabbed two interceptions in 30 starts for the Dolphins. Jones spent the first five seasons of his career with the Dallas Cowboys.
