The Miami Dolphins aren't expected to go after quarterback Tom Brady if he returns for the 2023 season, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Brady, 45, remains undecided on his plans for next season. He'll be an unrestricted free agent if he puts on a jersey for his 24th campaign as he can't be given the franchise tag due to a clause in his expiring contract.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion was previously linked to the Dolphins on multiple occasions. A league investigation found Miami tampered with Brady and former New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton. The NFL subsequently stripped the Dolphins of two draft picks and suspended and fined owner Stephen Ross.

Brady led the league with a career-high 733 pass attempts in 2022 on his way to throwing for 4,694 yards, 25 touchdowns, and nine interceptions.

The Dolphins reportedly remain committed to Tua Tagovailoa as their starting quarterback. The 24-year-old passer showed signs of significant development under first-year head coach Mike McDaniel. He currently remains in concussion protocol after entering it over a month ago.

Tagovailoa passed for a career-best 3,548 yards and 25 touchdowns while leading the league with a 105.5 passer rating despite suffering multiple injuries.

The Dolphins will have to decide this offseason whether they'll pick up the fifth-year option in Tagovailoa's rookie contract for the 2024 season.
