The Los Angeles Rams have hired Mike LaFleur as their new offensive coordinator, the team announced Friday.

LaFleur spent the last two seasons as the New York Jets' offensive coordinator. He served as passing game coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers from 2017-20.

The Jets ranked only 29th in total points in 2022 and missed the playoffs despite having one of the NFL's top defenses.

LaFleur will replace Liam Coen in L.A. Coen returned to Kentucky as offensive coordinator after one season with the Rams.

Los Angeles battled several key injuries on both sides of the ball in 2022 and posted a 5-12 record - the most single-season losses ever by a defending Super Bowl champion. Head coach Sean McVay considered stepping away from the team after the regular season but decided to return for the 2023 campaign.

LaFleur will inherit an offense that ranked 27th in scoring last season. But the Rams' offensive unit will be in a prime position to bounce back with star quarterback Matthew Stafford and wide receiver Cooper Kupp, among other starters, returning from injury. Stafford and Kupp each appeared in only nine games in 2022.
