Tua ruled out of Week 17 meeting vs. Patriots
The Miami Dolphins will be without quarterback Tua Tagovailoa for Sunday's game against the New England Patriots due to a concussion, head coach Mike McDaniel announced Friday, according to ESPN's Marcel Louis-Jacques.
Veteran passer Teddy Bridgewater is set to start under center.
Tagovailoa entered the concussion protocol Monday when he self-reported symptoms to team doctors following last week's loss to the Green Bay Packers. McDaniel later confirmed Wednesday that the signal-caller did suffer a concussion in the matchup.
It's the second time this season that Tagovailoa has landed in the protocol - the first stint came when he was hospitalized after the back of his head hit the ground during Week 4's loss to the Bengals.
Bridgewater has thrown for three touchdowns to three interceptions across four appearances this campaign.
The 8-7 Dolphins head into Week 17 holding the final AFC wild-card spot despite being amid a four-game losing streak.
