Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel confirmed Wednesday that Tua Tagovailoa suffered a concussion against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.

The 24-year-old quarterback entered concussion protocol Monday after he self-reported symptoms to team doctors. Tagovailoa finished the game without missing any snaps, and the NFL and NFLPA have launched an investigation into the situation, sources told The Athletic's Mike Jones.

Veteran Teddy Bridgewater is expected to be the team's starter if Tagovailoa is unavailable.

"Moving forward today ... the whole team's approach is Teddy Bridgewater's the starter," McDaniel said, adding, "He's done such a diligent job during the course of the season with his own injuries and such to be prepared for this opportunity."

Bridgewater has appeared in four games this year with one start. The 30-year-old has completed 61.7% of his passes for 522 yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions.

The Dolphins signed Bridgewater to a one-year, $6.5-million deal in the offseason, per Spotrac.
