Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen started Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings despite his elbow injury.

Allen suffered an elbow sprain in last week's loss to the New York Jets and was a limited participant at practice Friday after not practicing Wednesday and Thursday.

The Bills, who've spent intensive time consulting their doctors and other arm specialists, have been told Allen isn't at any added risk of aggravating his injury if he plays Sunday, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Allen has put on a show this season, passing for 2,403 yards and 19 touchdowns against eight interceptions through eight games. He's also added 392 yards and four scores on the ground.

The game between Buffalo and Minnesota is one of Sunday's most anticipated matchups. The 6-2 Bills are currently the No. 1 seed in the AFC, while the 7-1 Vikings rank second in the NFC, behind only the 8-0 Philadelphia Eagles.

Buffalo didn't elevate third-string passer Matt Barkley to the active roster from the practice squad Saturday, making Allen and backup Case Keenum the team's only available quarterbacks Sunday.
