Cooks 'frustrated' over situation with Texans: 'I want to win'

Houston Texans wide receiver Brandin Cooks voiced frustration with his situation Thursday after not being dealt at the Nov. 1 trade deadline.

"I'm human. I'm frustrated, absolutely," Cooks told reporters, including Shaun Bijani of 610 KILT-AM. "I want to win. That's not the case. That's what's going on. That's the way I express my emotion. I think we all want to win. We're all frustrated in some sense. That's where I stand with that."

The Texans were in talks to trade the veteran wide receiver to the Dallas Cowboys before the deadline, sources told Jordan Schultz, theScore's NFL insider. The trade didn't materialize because the Texans refused to pay any of the $18 million Cooks is guaranteed next season, per Schultz.

Cooks missed last week's game against the Philadelphia Eagles after being excused from both practices leading up to last Thursday's matchup.

"Last week, as you know, coach said if you don't practice, you don't play. As for everything else, I'm keeping that internal," Cooks said.

The Texans are 1-6-1 and are currently in line for the first overall pick in the upcoming draft. Cooks has two years remaining on his deal as the Texans continue to rebuild.

"How I'm feeling right now, like I said, take a day-by-day process," Cooks said when asked if he wants to stay in Houston long term. "I'm here now for the time being. As far as everything else getting worked out, we'll keep that internal."

Cooks was back at practice on Thursday and is expected to play on Sunday against the New York Giants, according to Charean Williams of ProFootballTalk.
