Dallas Cowboys offensive tackle Jason Peters will be active for Monday night's game against the New York Giants, a source told Jordan Schultz, theScore's NFL insider.

It'll be Peters' season debut after joining the Cowboys' practice squad on Sept. 5. He'll play left guard on Monday Night Football.

Dallas announced Monday afternoon that Peters has been elevated to the active roster from the practice squad.

Peters started 15 games at tackle with the Chicago Bears last season.

The 40-year-old is familiar with the NFC East, having played for the Philadelphia Eagles from 2009-20. He made 148 starts with Philly and earned a Pro Bowl berth in each of his first seven seasons with the club. The six-time All-Pro was part of the Eagles' Super Bowl run in 2017, though he appeared in only seven games that year due to a torn ACL.

The Cowboys signed Peters after their longtime left tackle Tyron Smith suffered a knee injury. Smith is expected to be sidelined until at least December.

Peters doesn't have much experience at guard. He played right guard for the first time in his career in Philly in 2020, logging 102 snaps at the position that year.

First-round rookie Tyler Smith, who had snaps at guard during the preseason, has been playing left tackle for Dallas. He allowed only three pressures through the first two games this year, according to PFF.
