San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle isn't expected to play in Sunday's opener against the Chicago Bears due to a groin injury, a source told Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Kittle suffered the injury during Monday's practice, with the team calling his status day-to-day.
San Francisco didn't want to take any unnecessary risks with Kittle this early in the season, according to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area.
Kittle has only played one full season since entering the NFL in 2017. He missed three games in 2021, finishing with 910 yards and six touchdowns.
