Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay is taking the blame for his team's 31-10 home loss in the season opener against the Buffalo Bills on Thursday.

"We weren't ready to go. That's on me. There was a lot of decisions I made that didn't put us in the best position to succeed," McVay said postgame, according to Greg Beacham of The Associated Press.

The Rams, who were shut out in the second half versus Buffalo, struggled on both sides of the ball. Los Angeles' running game was limited to only 52 yards (2.9 per carry), while quarterback Matthew Stafford threw three interceptions and was sacked seven times, the most the Rams have allowed in any game under McVay.

Though the defending Super Bowl champions forced three turnovers defensively, they allowed 7.1 yards per play and didn't force Buffalo to punt in the contest.

McVay wants to use the disappointing outing as motivation to bounce back.

"Tonight was a humbling night," added McVay, who'd won his previous five season-opening games as Rams head coach, according to USA Today's Tyler Dragon.

"My favorite part about sports is the opportunity to respond. This is just chapter one of a guaranteed 17 chapters that we have."

The Rams will remain in Los Angeles as they host the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2.
