Bears' Jenkins: Rumors of clashing with coaches 'totally not true'

Chicago Bears offensive tackle Teven Jenkins refuted talk that he's been at odds with the team's coaching staff amid trade rumors.

"Just one thing, mainly, that I was clashing with coaches," Jenkins said Saturday, according to ESPN's Courtney Cronin. "That was totally not true, and I just wanted to tell everybody that you don't have to believe everything that somebody says. It's just how it is."

Last week, it was reported that the Bears were holding trade talks around the 2021 second-round pick. Friction with the new regime was a rumored reason for the trade discussions.

Jenkins has spent much of his early NFL career on the sideline. He missed a large part of last season with a back injury and was absent for seven consecutive practices with an undisclosed injury before returning Saturday.

The 24-year-old declined to share any details of the recent injury that kept him off the practice field in training camp. He assessed that he's "around 90%" but added he should be back to normal shortly, according to Cronin.

Jenkins is seeking to reclaim a starting role after Larry Borom surpassed him at right tackle.
