Giants' Thibodeaux 'fully healthy' after dealing with minor hip injury
Kayvon Thibodeaux is ready to attack his debut season with the New York Giants after dealing with a minor hip injury this spring.
"I'm fully healthy; I'm doing fine," Thibodeaux said Monday on "NFL Total Access," according to Brooke Cersosimo of NFL.com. "I'm back training, and I'll be ready to go for training camp."
The fifth overall selection in the 2022 NFL Draft was spotted working out to the side of the field during team activities this spring. Head coach Brian Daboll declined to discuss Thibodeaux's health status during OTAs and minicamp.
The Oregon product is expected to be a key piece in the Giants' efforts to revitalize a pass rush that finished 22nd in the league with 34 sacks last season.
Thibodeaux recorded 126 tackles, 35.5 tackles for loss, and 19 sacks during his collegiate career. He posted 12 TFLs and seven sacks in 10 games in his final season at Oregon.
Thibodeaux shared some of his goals ahead of his first NFL campaign.
"If I could average at least one sack a game or contribute five to 10 tackles a game, then I'll be good," he said.
The young pass-rusher is being mentored by Hall of Fame defensive end Michael Strahan, who has shown him how to be a pro and build his brand.
"We always talk about being strategic in everything we do, so he's kind of helped hone that in," Thibodeaux said.
Along with Thibodeaux, the Giants' front seven also includes Leonard Williams, Dexter Lawrence, and Azeez Ojulari.
