Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Trysten Hill will be suspended two games without pay for Thursday's postgame swing at Las Vegas Raiders guard John Simpson, the NFL announced Monday.

NFL vice president of football operations Jon Runyan explained that Hill "waited more than 50 seconds" for his opponent after the game and "escalated" the situation by throwing an "open-hand punch," which knocked off Simpson's helmet.

Hill, who can appeal the suspension, will be eligible to return following the Cowboys' Week 14 game against the Washington Football Team.

Hill's punch capped off a penalty-filled contest between the Cowboys and Raiders. Both clubs combined for 28 penalties for 276 yards.

The Cowboys lost the game 36-33 while Hill finished with five tackles.
