Giants' Judge assures fans after 1-5 start: This is going to get better

New York Giants head coach Joe Judge promised fans that better days are coming after the club's 1-5 start to the 2021 season.

"This is definitely going to get better," Judge said, according to ESPN's Jordan Raanan.

"I don’t know what kind of guarantee they want, but I can assure everyone out there who is a Giants fan, and they want to know when it’s going to turn, we’re working tirelessly to make sure we get this turned in the right direction, not just for short-term results but for long-term success.”

The Los Angeles Rams defeated the Giants in a 38-11 blowout in New York. After going up 3-0 early, the Giants allowed 38 unanswered points before adding a late touchdown in the fourth quarter. The lackluster performance drew boos from spectators, which Judge says he understands completely.

"In terms of the fans, I love the passion of our fans. It's New York, what'd you expect? It's supposed to be tough," he said, according to Zack Rosenblatt of The Newark Star-Ledger.

The second-year head coach told the media in his postgame presser Sunday that he challenged the team at halftime to fight it out. He added Monday that he won't single out players after noticing lapses in effort throughout the game but will address it internally.

The Giants have struggled on both sides of the ball this season. Their offense ranks 27th in scoring while the defense is allowing 29.5 points per game, the fourth-most in the league.

Judge noted he has no plans to make play-calling changes "at this moment."
