Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores is hopeful Tua Tagovailoa will play Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars after announcing the quarterback will return to practice Wednesday, according to David Furones of the Sun Sentinel.

"We're moving enough in the right direction that he'll be out there. He'll have an opportunity to practice and, hopefully, play in the game," Flores said.

Tagovailoa has spent the last three weeks on injured reserve after fracturing his ribs in Week 2 against the Buffalo Bills. While he has not officially been activated off IR yet, Miami designated him to return Tuesday, clearing a path for him to play in Sunday's game.

Jacoby Brissett started all three games during Tagovailoa's absence but has yet to lead the Dolphins to victory. The veteran is 0-3 this season with four touchdowns to two interceptions.

Miami has lost four in a row since Tagovailoa beat the New England Patriots in Week 1. The Dolphins' offense has noticeably struggled this season as their 15.8 points per game ranks 31st in the league.
