Report: Texans' stance on Watson trade starting to soften

The Houston Texans have been reluctant to trade quarterback Deshaun Watson for anything less than a king's ransom, but they may be coming around to the idea.

Houston's stance on moving Watson has started to soften, reports Jay Glazer of FOX Sports.

Watson, who requested a trade in January, has no intention of playing for the Texans again, Glazer reports.

Teams have reached out to the Texans about the star signal-caller, but Houston has yet to earnestly entertain trade offers. The Texans have reportedly been asking for a six-piece package of players and draft picks, including three first-round selections. Houston has already rejected an offer with three first-round picks and three third-rounders, Glazer adds.

Teams interested in Watson have angled for pick protections to protect themselves in case he's suspended or criminally prosecuted. Watson is currently facing 22 lawsuits alleging sexual assault and inappropriate behavior. Ten women have also filed criminal complaints against him.

The Miami Dolphins, who placed quarterback Tua Tagovailoa on their injury report Saturday due to a rib injury, reportedly emerged as front-runners in trade discussions with the Texans prior to the beginning of the regular season.

Watson, 25, has yet to play in 2021. The three-time Pro Bowler led the NFL with 4,823 passing yards last season while also setting career highs in completion percentage (70.2) and touchdown passes (33).
