The New Orleans Fire Department responded to a three-alarm fire on the stadium's roof, Emma Discher of Nola.com reports.
Doug Thornton, vice president of ASM Global, the company that manages the Superdome, said the fire took place in the stadium's "gutter tub," which lines the base of the roof, according to Discher. The fire is now under control.
The Saints played their home opener in Jacksonville after Hurricane Ida ravaged the Louisiana area.
Cleaning crews were power washing the roof Monday in preparation for it to be painted, according to Discher.
The Saints are planning to return to the Superdome for their next home game on Oct. 3 against the New York Giants.
