The Baltimore Ravens traded rookie cornerback Shaun Wade to the New England Patriots, the acquiring team announced Thursday.

The Ravens will receive a 2022 seventh-round pick and a 2023 fifth-round pick for Wade, according to Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic.

Wade was selected in the fifth round of this year's draft following a standout career at Ohio State.

While the rookie has impressed during training camp and the preseason, Baltimore boasts one of the NFL's deepest cornerback groups.

Wade's chances of making the roster appeared slim, and the Ravens opted to move the defender for assets rather than cut him.

The 22-year-old was a first-team All-Big Ten selection after recording two interceptions, four pass defenses, and 34 total tackles in his final season with the Buckeyes.

New England needed to bolster its cornerback depth with former Defensive Player of the Year Stephon Gilmore still on the physically unable to perform list due to a quad injury that ended his 2020 season early.
