Jets' Lawson out for season with ruptured Achilles
New York Jets defensive end Carl Lawson will miss the 2021 season after rupturing his Achilles, the team announced.
Lawson said he felt a pop during Thursday's practice, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, prompting concern that he may have sustained a season-ending injury. The 26-year-old underwent an MRI on his Achilles after being carted off the field.
The Jets also lost safety Zane Lewis for the year after he tore his patella tendon and sprained his MCL.

Lawson joined the Jets on a three-year, $45-million contract this offseason after four campaigns with the Cincinnati Bengals. New York was counting on him to improve a thin pass rush, and he'd been one of the club's top performers at training camp.
Though the former fourth-round pick had only 5.5 sacks last season, he ranked sixth in the NFL with 64 quarterback pressures, per PFF. He has 20 sacks in 51 career games.
Lawson has a history of leg injuries. He tore his left ACL in 2014 while at Auburn and tore his right ACL in 2018 while with the Bengals.
