Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson has been dealing with lingering calf and ankle tightness, which explains why he's remained sidelined at practice over the last two days, sources told NFL reporter Aaron Wilson.

The injury is not considered major, and Watson is labeled as day-to-day, adds Wilson.

Despite the ailments, the three-time Pro Bowler is still attending team meetings.

"He's been a great asset for us in the room and some of the stuff we do, how he sees it, and how he sees the intent of the plays," offensive coordinator Tim Kelly said Wednesday, according to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio.

On Tuesday, Watson missed practice for the first time since reporting for training camp, but head coach David Culley declined to say why the signal-caller was absent.

Although Watson was on the field for Houston's first five practice sessions, his participation was limited. The 25-year-old only participated in individual drills while the other three quarterbacks on the roster - Tyrod Taylor, Jeff Driskel, and rookie Davis Mills - took snaps in team drills.

Culley has also declined to comment whether Watson - who has asked for a trade - is part of his club's future. The field general is currently facing off-field issues after 22 civil lawsuits and 10 criminal complaints were filed against him. The NFL is investigating the allegations.

Watson led the NFL with 4,823 passing yards last season while also setting career highs in completion percentage (70.2) and touchdown passes (33).
