A trailer for Tom Brady's appearance on HBO's "The Shop: Uninterrupted" sent social media into a frenzy Monday after showing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback recounting his disbelief that an unspecified team was "sticking with that motherfucker" instead of signing him in free agency.

Though Brady didn't identify the relevant team during the episode that aired Friday, he did say it was a club he wouldn't have ever joined.

"There was a story - in free agency, one of the teams, they were interested, and all of a sudden, they weren't interested at the very end," Brady said. "I was sitting there thinking, 'You're sticking with that motherfucker? Are you serious?'"

The 43-year-old added: "When I look back, I'm like, 'There's no fucking way I would've went to that team.' But they said they didn't want me, and I know what that means, I know what that feels like. And I'm going to fuck you up because of that."

Besides the Buccaneers, Brady's primary free-agency suitors reportedly included the San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Chargers, New Orleans Saints, Las Vegas Raiders, and Chicago Bears. Two of those teams - San Francisco and New Orleans - arguably don't fit Brady's story.

Brady's interest in joining his hometown 49ers was well-known, so his revelation that he didn't want to play for the team in question likely rules out San Francisco and Brady's ex-New England Patriots teammate Jimmy Garoppolo. The Saints, meanwhile, were in the process of bringing back legendary passer Drew Brees for a final season and were coming off a 13-3 campaign.

That leaves Mitchell Trubisky and the Bears, Derek Carr and the Raiders, and Tyrod Taylor and the Chargers (though Taylor had been the backup the year before) as possible candidates.

Brady could have been referring to a team that wasn't widely reported to be interested in his services. The Los Angeles Rams - who had quarterback Jared Goff as their starter before trading him to the Detroit Lions this offseason - and the Ryan Tannehill-led Tennessee Titans were floated as potential fits on social media.

Whichever team retracted its interest in the future Hall of Famer likely regrets the decision. Brady put together one of his finest pro seasons in 2020 en route to winning his seventh career Super Bowl title.
