Amazon Prime to be exclusive home of Thursday Night Football beginning in 2022
The NFL announced on Monday that Amazon Prime Video will become the exclusive home of Thursday Night Football beginning in the 2022 season.
The league is moving up the broadcasting change by a year from its original starting date in 2023.
As a result of the announcement, 2021 will mark the final season of the broadcast on FOX.
The change comes just months after the league announced new broadcast deals with Amazon, FOX, CBS, ESPN/ABC, and NBC. The agreements were set to begin in 2023 and run through the 2033 season.
Amazon previously partnered with the NFL to broadcast Thursday Night Football during the 2017 season.
With more fans enjoying games from their home and on their phones, the league prioritized partnering up long term with a company like Amazon that could reach a broader audience.
