The Miami Dolphins selected tight end Hunter Long from Boston College at No.81 in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Long is coming off his best individual college season with the Eagles, earning a first-team All-ACC berth after catching 57 passes for 685 yards and five touchdowns through 11 games in 2020.

The 22-year-old is the second receiving weapon Miami has taken this year after wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, who the team selected sixth overall Thursday.

Mike Gesicki carried the load for the Dolphins at tight end last season, notching 703 yards and six touchdowns on 53 receptions.

Key stats: 57 receptions, 685 yards, 5 touchdowns, 12 YPC

You know what you're getting with Long. He's not going to run past defenders and make big plays downfield, but the Boston College product is developed in areas of the game that his counterparts aren't. Long is already technically sound as a blocker and able to consistently haul in contested catches. His route-running is fine, though he'll see the field early and often in his NFL career by doing the little things extremely well. There are few true weaknesses in Long's game - he's just not Kelce, either.
