Panthers agree to terms with Bouye
The Carolina Panthers signed free-agent cornerback A.J. Bouye, the team announced Wednesday.
The Denver Broncos released Bouye following the 2020 season.
Bouye missed several games this past campaign after suffering a shoulder injury in Week 1. He finished with 23 tackles and six passes defended in seven contests.
He'll miss the first two games of the 2021 season as he continues to serve a six-game suspension for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs.
The cornerback started his career with the Houston Texans. After four seasons in Houston, Bouye signed a five-year, $67.5-million contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was named to the Pro Bowl after tallying six interceptions and 18 passes defended in 2017.
Bouye has started 69 games and hauled in 14 interceptions to go along with 338 tackles in his career.
His arrival comes just days after Carolina traded for quarterback Sam Darnold.
Bouye provides a veteran presence to a Panthers secondary that features Donte Jackson and Rashaan Melvin.
