The New York Jets have received trade interest for Pro Bowl linebacker CJ Mosley, sources told Tom Pellisero of NFL Network.
Mosley opted out of the 2020 campaign due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The former Baltimore Ravens standout is under contract for four more seasons with the Jets.
New York would gain $1.5 million in cap space if it trades Mosley, and the team would carry a $6.5-million dead-money hit, according to Spotrac. If the AFC East club cuts the linebacker, it would be on the hook for $19.9 million in dead money.
Mosley made four Pro Bowl appearances and was named a second-team All-Pro four times (2014, 2016-2018) during his stint with Baltimore before signing a five-year, $85-million deal with New York in 2019.
But the 28-year-old played in just two games during his first season with the Jets due to injury.
New York reportedly added to its linebacker group early in the legal-negotiating window, signing Jarrad Davis to a one-year, $7-million deal.
