Report: Chargers exploring Meyer as HC candidate
It appears the Jacksonville Jaguars aren't the only team interested in potentially bringing Urban Meyer to the pros.
As the spotlight shines on Meyer and the Jags, the Los Angeles Chargers continue to explore the former Ohio State boss as a head coaching candidate, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
The two sides spoke recently but have yet to conduct a formal interview, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo added.
Meyer has been heavily rumored as a top candidate to replace the recently fired Doug Marrone on the Jaguars' sideline. Meyer reportedly told those close to him he expects to land the job.
However, rumors surfaced on Tuesday the three-time college football national champion was still undecided on becoming an NFL head coach and was weighing his options.
The Chargers, who fired Anthony Lynn after four years on the job, have been the only other team linked to Meyer.
Los Angeles interviewed a number of potential candidates over the last two weeks, including Rams defensive coordinator Brandon Staley, San Francisco 49ers DC Robert Saleh, and Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll.
