Denver Broncos head coach Vic Fangio will remain with the team for the 2021 season despite another losing campaign in charge, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Broncos hired Fangio in 2019. Some believed he was in danger of being fired, but the AFC West club recognizes the importance of stability and believes in its head coach, added Schefter.

Denver sits tied at the bottom of the division at 5-9 entering Week 16 after finishing 7-9 in Fangio's first season.

The head coach has dealt with adversity in 2020, most notably losing arguably his two best players - pass-rusher Von Miller and wide receiver Courtland Sutton - to season-ending injuries early in the year.

Denver also had to play without any quarterbacks in Week 12's loss to the New Orleans Saints due to COVID-19 protocols.

Sophomore quarterback Drew Lock failed to take a significant step forward in his development after a promising end to 2019, ensuring the Broncos' struggles to stabilize since Peyton Manning's retirement will continue into at least next season.

Fangio inked a four-year contract with a fifth-year option when Denver hired him.
