Patriots activate Michel off IR
The New England Patriots have activated Sony Michel off injured reserve, clearing the running back to return for Sunday's game against the Houston Texans, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.
Michel has only played in three games this season due to a quad injury.
A first-round pick in 2018, Michel ran for 117 yards during his last appearance in Week 3.
The running back's absence paved the way for Damien Harris and Rex Burkhead to take control of the Patriots' ground game. Harris, a third-round selection in 2019, has run the ball well this season, rushing for over 100 yards in three games. Burkhead has also chipped in, contributing 454 yards from scrimmage.
Michel's return gives New England a variety of options in the backfield with three capable running backs.
The 25-year-old has 25 career starts and has rushed for over 900 yards in each of his last two seasons.
