Roethlisberger activated off COVID-19 list, will play vs. Bengals
The Pittsburgh Steelers activated quarterback Ben Roethlisberger from the reserve/COVID-19 list on Saturday ahead of their game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Head coach Mike Tomlin said Friday that Roethlisberger was expected to be moved off the list and play in the AFC North showdown, according to NFL Network's Aditi Kinkhabwala.
The veteran quarterback was one of four Steelers players placed on the COVID-19 list after reportedly being deemed a high-risk close contact.
Offensive lineman Jerald Hawkins, running back Jaylen Samuels, and linebacker Vince Williams were also activated Saturday.
Roethlisberger hasn't been able to practice throughout the week but the Steelers will hold an extended walk-through Saturday once he's activated.
Tomlin also said the quarterback's knee injuries won't be an issue, per ESPN's Brooke Pryor. Roethlisberger injured both knees last Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys but was able to go to the team facility to seek treatment.
Roethlisberger is currently in the midst of an impressive comeback campaign, throwing 18 touchdowns and just four interceptions as he commands the NFL's only remaining undefeated team.
The 8-0 Steelers are slated to take on rookie quarterback Joe Burrow and the Bengals this Sunday.
