The Los Angeles Chargers will be working virtually after a player tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday, the team announced Thursday.

The player is reserve offensive lineman Ryan Groy, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

All close contacts have been told to stay home and isolate, and the Chargers' facility will remain open.

"We continue to operate in close consultation with the NFL, as well as our team of independent doctors and specialists, and will follow their guidance," the Chargers said in a statement. "As has been the case since day one of this pandemic, the health and safety of our players, staff, and community continue to be our highest priority."

The positive test is the first for the team since training camp opened. The news came the same day the New York Giants reportedly placed guard Will Hernandez on the COVID-19/reserve list and sent other offensive linemen home.

Los Angeles is scheduled to play the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
