The Jacksonville Jaguars could bench quarterback Gardner Minshew if he struggles in Week 7 versus the Los Angeles Chargers, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Since opening the season with a three-touchdown performance against the Indianapolis Colts, Minshew has thrown five interceptions in as many weeks. The Jaguars have dropped their last five decisions, sinking them to the bottom of the AFC South standings with a 1-5 record.

Minshew entered his sophomore season as the starter on the heels of a solid rookie campaign in which he overtook Nick Foles and developed a cult-like following. In 20 career appearances, the former sixth-round pick has thrown for 4,953 yards with 32 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

If he's demoted, veteran Mike Glennon would likely take his spot. The Jaguars would reportedly use their Week 8 bye to assess their quarterback situation.
