Jaylon Smith calls out players criticizing Cowboys' staff: 'Own up to it'
Dallas Cowboys linebacker Jaylon Smith wants the players who anonymously criticized the coaching staff to be accountable.
“If you got something to say, own up to it," Smith said Thursday, according to The Athletic's Jon Machota.
The defender said Mike McCarthy is a player's coach, and those on the roster therefore shouldn't be hesitant to bring issues forward.
"Coach wants us to be grown men. It’s a blessing to have him as a coach. We have to perform." he said.
"If you got something to say, put your name on it," Smith added.
He's the latest Cowboys player to speak out following an earlier report of anonymous players calling the coaching staff "totally unprepared" following a 38-10 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
Running back Ezekiel Elliott also chimed in Wednesday, saying the Cowboys need to keep this kind of issue "in house."
Dallas has endured a bumpy start to its 2020 campaign, with the club dropping four of its first six games while also losing Dak Prescott for the season.
The Cowboys' defense has performed poorly under new coordinator Mike Nolan. His unit has surrendered 34-plus points in five consecutive games.
Dallas will look to improve its 2-4 record Sunday against the Washington Football Team.
