Chargers' Ingram hits IR with knee injury
The Los Angeles Chargers placed defensive end Melvin Ingram on injured reserve with a knee issue Saturday, sidelining him for the next three weeks at minimum.
Ingram had been labeled doubtful for the Chargers' Week 3 contest against the Carolina Panthers. The 31-year-old has two tackles and an interception through two games this year and will be eligible to return Week 6 against the New York Jets.
Chargers' upcoming schedule
| Week | Opponent |
|---|---|
| 3 | Panthers |
| 4 | Buccaneers |
| 5 | Saints |
Ingram had seven sacks last year and has recorded at least seven sacks in each of the past five seasons. He and Joey Bosa have been one of the top pass-rushing tandems in the NFL over that span.
Los Angeles also placed linebacker Asmar Bilal and defensive tackle Justin Jones on injured reserve with calf and shoulder problems, respectively.
