Phillip Lindsay's status for Week 2 appears to be in doubt as the Denver Broncos running back deals with turf toe.

Denver has yet to rule Lindsay out for Sunday's matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but it's believed he could potentially miss a couple of games, NFL Networks' James Palmer reports.

"I was happy with the results," Broncos head coach Vic Fangio said Wednesday of the tailback's tests. "It wasn't as bad as it could be."

The 26-year-old suffered the injury in the first half of Monday's loss to the Tennessee Titans and didn't return to the sideline after halftime.

Lindsay was the Broncos' leading rusher in each of the last two seasons after they signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2018.

Melvin Gordon should lead Denver's backfield while Lindsay is on the shelf, with Royce Freeman as his backup.
