Buccaneers among Jamal Adams' preferred trade destinations

An eighth team will reportedly be included in Jamal Adams' list of preferred trade destinations.

Along with the initial seven clubs Adams would reportedly be willing to play for following a trade, the New York Jets' All-Pro safety said he'd love to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he told ESPN's Ryan Clark, according to Field Yates.

Adams likes the idea of reuniting with Buccaneers defensive coordinator Todd Bowles, who coached him with the Jets for two seasons (2017 and 2018).

Tampa Bay would join a list of clubs featuring the Baltimore Ravens, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans, Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers, and Seattle Seahawks.

The 24-year-old requested a trade from the Jets on Thursday after previously voicing his frustration about not getting a lucrative contract extension. He's entering the fourth year of his rookie deal.

New York, which picked up the fifth-year option on Adams' contract in April, reportedly doesn't intend to trade him.

Adams, a two-time Pro Bowler, is among the NFL's premier safeties. The 2017 sixth overall pick has averaged 73 tackles, four sacks, three forced turnovers, and nine pass breakups per 16 games played through his first three seasons.

The Buccaneers, meanwhile, have been one of the most-discussed teams this offseason after signing quarterback Tom Brady and adding tight end Rob Gronkowski. The team also fortified its secondary, using a second-round pick on safety Antoine Winfield Jr.

However, the Bucs could face salary cap issues if they pursue Adams. Tampa Bay holds only $4.87 million in cap space this year, according to Over The Cap.
