Steelers cut available tickets to prepare for COVID-19 measures

The Pittsburgh Steelers withheld 50% of individual game tickets when they went on sale Friday in anticipation of a reduced seating capacity due to COVID-19.

"We are being proactive with these limited amount of tickets as we are preparing for possible social distancing scenarios at Heinz Field this year," Steelers director of communications Burt Lauten tweeted.

Despite the pandemic, the NFL plans to begin its regular season on time at the beginning of September. While the league hopes to have fans in the stadium, the need for physical distancing could limit the number of spectators allowed in.

The Steelers have sold out every home game since 1972.
