Seahawks release D.J. Fluker, Justin Britt

The Seattle Seahawks released guard D.J. Fluker and center Justin Britt on Sunday.

The Seahawks will free up more than $10 million in cap space by cutting the pair.

Fluker, 29, started 14 games at right guard for the Seahawks in 2019, allowing six sacks and committing seven penalties, according to PFF. He appeared in 24 contests for Seattle over two seasons.

Britt will account for $2.9 million in dead money, according to Over the Cap. The 28-year-old has started 86 games at center since Seattle selected him in the second round in 2014.

He made eight starts last year before being placed on injured reserve due to a knee injury.

Quarterback Russell Wilson showed love to his longtime teammate after learning of his departure.

"We all meet people who we get to spend time with and talk life and compete to be the best in the world with," Wilson said in an Instagram post. "Thanks for all the focus and hard work and love you brought to the game. ... Although I wish we could keep celebrating in the end zone together and I wish it could be longer, the reality is your best days are ahead of you."

The Seahawks have added to their offensive line this offseason. They signed center B.J. Finney to a two-year contract and selected former LSU guard Damien Lewis in the third round of the 2020 draft.
