Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston is taking an optimistic approach to losing his job to Tom Brady.

Winston said Wednesday during an interview on FOX News that he views being replaced by the legendary quarterback as a compliment.

"Well, one thing you can learn about me is my faith. I have tremendous faith in my Lord. And one thing about Tom Brady is that it's understood that he is the GOAT," Winston said. "And for you to get replaced by Tom Brady in a city you love so much, I guess that's kudos to me."

Winston made the television appearance to speak about a toll-free COVID-19 hotline he helped develop alongside Dr. Scott Kelley.

The former No. 1 overall pick, who remains without a team after hitting free agency three weeks ago, also discussed his own playing future.

"I'm gonna have to play the Tom Bradys, the Patrick Mahomes, and all the other great quarterbacks eventually," said Winston. "That's how you win Super Bowls, and that's what I want."

Winston became the founding member of the 30-touchdown, 30-interception club last season to go along with being only the eighth QB in NFL history to throw for more than 5,000 yards in a single campaign.
