Five years ago, Cam Newton was the NFL's Most Valuable Player. Now, he's struggling to find a new home.

It's been a swift fall for the 2015 MVP, who's likely on his way out of Carolina after the Panthers signed quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to a lucrative three-year deal. The trade market has been tepid for Newton, whose health in recent years heightens the importance of him passing a physical - which isn't easy to do this offseason due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Will anyone take a chance on the oft-injured star? Here are the odds on who he'll play for in Week 1 of next season, with a few interesting teams highlighted below:

TEAM ODDS
Washington Redskins +150
New England Patriots +200
Miami Dolphins +250
Jacksonville Jaguars +900
Denver Broncos +1600
Las Vegas Raiders +1600
Pittsburgh Steelers +2800
Cincinnati Bengals +4000

Washington Redskins (+150)

Washington makes sense for two reasons: familiarity and desperation. Newton and new Redskins coach Ron Rivera both joined the Panthers in 2011 and spent nine seasons alternating between division crowns and last-place finishes. If Rivera isn't enamored with current starter Dwayne Haskins Jr., Newton could offer Rivera a chance to reach those highs again with a new franchise.

ESPN's Josina Anderson reported earlier this week that the Redskins are "observing" Newton's market, though there wasn't clear interest. That alone means laying short odds probably isn't enviable, but the signs are there.

New England Patriots (+200)

It's no surprise to see the Patriots on any list involving a quarterback's new home after they lost their longtime starter earlier this week. You may have heard of him.

New England seems set on rolling into Week 1 with Jarrett Stidham or a budget option, but if Newton is cut and willing to sign a team-friendly deal, Bill Belichick could be the perfect candidate to sap any remaining value from the former MVP.

Las Vegas Raiders (+1600)

Now, this is where things get interesting. The Raiders have been flirting with quarterbacks all offseason, so Derek Carr's presence doesn't seem to be a strong deterrent to a potential Newton trade or signing.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora predicted Newton to Las Vegas before free agency began, and while the team has since signed Marcus Mariota, the Raiders are still flush with cap space and eager to make a splash before moving to their new home. At long odds, this is worth a shot.
